## Overview
The Enterprise ITAM dashboard reports real asset counts and the health of your software license estate. This guide explains every KPI, chart, and term so you can interpret the dashboard accurately and keep your organization audit-ready and cost-optimized.
### Asset Counts: How They Are Calculated
All asset figures are deduplicated against the **BIOS serial number** of each physical machine. Where multiple scan snapshots exist for the same device, only the most recent record is counted, so repeated scans and multi-site discovery never inflate the numbers. Systems without a BIOS serial fall back to hostname tracking.
- **Unique Hardware Assets**: Distinct physical devices currently inventoried.
- **Software Unique Assets**: Devices with at least one detected software installation.
- **Unreported Systems (N Days)**: Assets whose latest check-in exceeds the configured threshold. The threshold is adjustable directly on the dashboard.
- **Cloud Asset Inventory / Cloud Providers**: Cloud instance totals and provider coverage from the sample/integration inventory.
### What Is a License Pool?
Every entry in License Management is a **license pool** - one software product with a purchased seat count. For each pool the portal compares purchased seats against detected usage (installed copies or manual allocations) and classifies the results below.
### License Categories (Licenses by Category chart)
Seats are grouped by product category: **Operating System**, **Productivity Suite**, **Database Server**, **Security/Antivirus**, **Development/IDE**, **Design/Media**, **System Utility**, **CRM/Sales**, **ERP/Finance**, **Virtualization/Container**, **Communications/Chat**, and **Other**.
### Utilization (Utilized vs Available chart)
- **Utilized**: Seats actually in use. Detected installs are counted but capped at the purchased count, so a pool can never show more usage than it owns.
- **Available**: Purchased seats not yet in use - the free seats you can still assign.
The strict identity is: **Total Licensed Seats = Utilized + Available**.
### Health (Within Limit vs Over-Utilized chart)
- **Within Limit**: Pools whose detected usage fits inside purchased seats. Healthy and compliant.
- **Over-Utilized**: Pools running more copies than purchased. Each such pool is your primary licensing-risk and audit-exposure signal.
### Recommended Review Workflow
1. Read the License Health chart first - resolve any Over-Utilized pool immediately.
2. Review Utilized vs Available to identify under-used contract spend.
3. Drill into the category chart, then open the License List to fix flagged pools.
4. Repeat monthly; the system also emails an alert when utilization crosses the configured threshold.
